With my chosen architects, Zaha Hadid and Enric Miralles, and the chosen buildings Phaeno science center and original concept of Vitra Fire Station and from Miralles, igualada cemetry.I set upon a journey of these chosens buildings concept in relation to each other of Fragmentation and Organized chaos. Although you must forgive me if i say something stupid right now. its 4am. I went on researching both these architects presentation styles and inspirations of not only these particular buildings but a lot of their other works, not in the sense of design. but the inspiration and how it was represented. i found both these architects to have a unique style. miralles with his old age collage techniques of merging photographs and blob drawings and Hadid's artwork waitings. i set on the idea of combining the two and also an experimental course in a way to try these techniques used by the architects. My design is set in a desert area, where the blade walls act like retaining walls and sunking into the land. It resembles world war I bunkers which have been left there for decades and the sand seem to have eaten it up. The building is more in the idea of a sculptural mass with writing imprinted on the walls it almost resembles a cave within with its static materialism and branch like openings. In producing this, i found working with sand to be unique and at times very difficult in getting the texture and dunes right. I cant elaborate too much right now due the the lack of sleep lol.

6day - deadline

Six days to deadline -

Since you would like journal like entries of my progress, ill try and document my production everyday of what has been done.

so far i have
Renders -
exterior at 75%
interior at 40%
montage 30%
top 30%
completed

i have tested the 3D interactive pdf, personally i think its horrible with the material, what i think is pretty cool though is the aspect of having to explore the 3d model without any such program..
i believe im going to look at other ways of showing these aspects with different techniques that i havent finalised with and need some experimentation with.. we shall see...

personally... sand is an rare material to work with it is very different from my last montage. so far the development of the dunes are being worked, although they still need to be adjusted, i think that is the hard part though, so after that its a breeeze..

Precedent study - rethink

Phaeno science center Zaha hadid and Igualada Cemetery by Enric Miralles

Fragmentation and Organized chaos -
These concepts of Fragmentation and Organized chaos uncovered along with some addition ideas like movement. There is always a certain vibe in each space where these concepts all break the modern foundation of defined spaces where walls, ceiling and floors meet at 90 degrees, differentiating, transforming, molding as you move from one space to another.

Phaeno science center - Zaha hadid
Gives visitors a certain experience from arrival to entering the premises. The building appears to be simple geometric shape with many bits that seem to be cut out and replaced with either glass, lights or left. fragmentation taken in a different context where bits are chipped away and organized to fit a need where it is non standardized.

Igualada Cemetery - Enric Miralles
A Cemetery with the idea of where the past and present meet. it is interesting where built in multilevel style, walls acting like retaining walls. The walls where they appear to be inserted into the ground to stop the land from tipping over. The layout of the walls create a path and idea of movement where it is interesting in how it is set out. The piece of materials used appear like a normal plane for only so long and breaks into other geometries. Organized in a way where there is a nostalgic sense with the land and the dead.

Proposition
With the both Hadid and Miralles working on commercial type buildings it would be interesting if these were transformed into a residential form, how normal living spaces are transformed.

Another proposal of having these concepts integrated as a shipyard where appears if it was washed up on sea.

last proposal would be a memorial, i believe the concepts and the sculptural form embraces and idea of rememberence, names would be embellished into  the form. The fragmentation resembling a piece of each memory.

Precedent study

Original concepts of fragmentation and organized chaos i see these buildings having some more slightly interesting ideas where its more like chunks cut away which represent the idea of fragmentation, a much less dissolved form in comparison to Vitra fire station.  Denver art museum eludes this idea of a object moments before shattering.

The chunks cut away from Phaeno science center are possibly random but in a way that it is organized in a manner. In Denver art museum the shattered shapes still intact with bits extruding out.

Some other ideas which i have not mentioned which i do seem to see is that there is a journey in all of these buildings including Vitra fire station in that when walking through the pillars of Phaeno science center or toppling members from Vitra and Denver art museum its almost magically nostalgic. Wrote more than i thought oh well.

Possibly functions -
Residential - concepts seen in a smaller scale would be interesting
skyscraper - all three of these buildings are more of a horizontal manner
Third function I havent decided yet, just waitttttt
